Eduardo Secci Now Represents the Estate of Giò Pomodoro

Eduardo Secci and the Gio’ Pomodoro Archive are pleased to announce their collaboration for the promotion of the master’s work. The dialogue and joint work between the gallery and the archive are focused on relaunching the presence of the artist’s figure on the Italian and international scene through the knowledge, dissemination and protection of the master’s work. The renewed presence of Gio’ Pomodoro’s works at trade fairs and institutional, public and private events is aimed at continuing the work carried out by the master, also in view of the publication of the Catalogue Rationale in December 2022 – published by Silvana editoriale one year after the artist’s death -.

The figure of Gio’ Pomodoro, between the end of the 1950s and throughout the 1960s, is central in the sphere of international sculpture: his inventions, his experiments and his ability to combine theory and praxis of sculpture make him a reference sculptor. The idea of the ‘Tensions’, then ‘Fools’, whose form is determined by the self-arrangement by gravity of a canvas then fixed in plaster and finally in bronze – but also in polyester! – and in marble, is an action that precurses every ‘Antiform’ experiment, just as his ‘Suns’, also on an urban scale within projects for public places, construct an idea of ‘civil’ sculpture that is still unsurpassed today.

The first project that the Gallery and Archives will propose to their public will be the exhibition of Giò Pomodoro in the Florence premises at Piazza Carlo Goldoni 2. The retrospective will be inaugurated on 16 September 2022 and the exhibition will remain on view until 23 December.
