The Dream of Reason
In Florence, on Friday September 16 2022 (from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm), NOVO opens the exhibition The Dream of Reason by Daria Dmytrenko, curated by Edoardo Monti. The artist’s first solo exhibition in the rooms of the experimental space of Eduardo Secci Gallery continues until November 19, 2022.
The Dream of Reason brings together a new corpus of works – on linen canvas and wooden board – in which painting is pivotal. Also the show is the first collaboration of Daria Dmytrenko as represented artist by the Gallery.
Navigating through the river mythologies of places of origin, childhood memories and geographies of the present, Daria Dmytrenko explores the subconscious through shades of color and a palette of intense tones. “The creative process is sacred, almost mystical: a sort of meditation, a flow of the subconscious within which painting tries to find balance and bring silence. In the act of painting, an infallible methodology is discovered, the aim of which is to obtain memories. Finding while creating.” in the words of the curator Edoardo Monti.
The Dream of Reason retraces the artistic path of Daria Dmytrenko, constituting a moment of synthesis of the research carried out so far, as well as a starting point for the upcoming.

Daria Dmytrenko (1993, Dnipropetrovsk, Ucraina) vive e lavora a Venezia. Dopo la prima formazione artistica a Dnipropetrovsk, ha frequentato i corsi di pittura presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Arti Visive e Architettura di Kiev (2012-15) e si è diplomata all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia nel 2021. Attraverso la pittura, l’artista esplora l’espressione visiva del subconscio, utilizzando gli impulsi intuitivi come strumento per far emergere i ricordi più profondi e trasformarli in composizione. Tra le mostre in cui sono state esposte le sue opere: Journey to the center of the mind, Stems (Paris, 2024) What’s behind the gloom, Setareh (Düsseldorf, 2023), Degree Show II, Palazzo Monti (Brescia, 2021); Extraordinario, Vulcano agenzia VEGA (Venezia, 2020); 103ma Collettiva Giovani Artisti, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Galleria Piazza San Marco (Venezia, 2020); Spin Off, Calle Lunga Santa Caterina (Venezia, 2019); Speculum mundi, Davide Gallo (Milano, 2018); Upon a Time, Galleria Eduardo Secci (Firenze, 2022); Fluuuuuido, Cassina Projects (Milano, 2022).
