Informazioni sul booth

SECCI is honoured to announce its participation in the upcoming edition of Frieze Masters, taking place in London from October 10 to October 13, 2024.

For the occasion, the gallery is presenting a solo show of one of the most significant interpreters of pictorial abstraction internationally, Giulio Turcato: his intricate work includes intriguing figurative aspects and extraordinary forays into sculpture and set design. One of Turcato’s most fascinating works is represented by his early series of sculptures, Oceaniche, exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1972, alongside the first Cosmico. The recreation of his Sala Personale at the 1972 Venice Biennale, featuring his early sculptures and other highly evocative works (such as Le Spine di Cristo e della Maddalena), is at the heart of our booth. His palette of color, sometimes deep, sometimes vibrant, remains a constant, returning to its original function of “structure of light.”

Giulio Turcato’s exhibition activity and critical success are unparalleled in the Italian art of the 20th century. He participated in the Venice Biennale in 1942, 1948, 1952, 1954, 1956, 1958 (Sala Personale and winner of the National Prize), 1966 (Sala Personale), 1968, 1972 (Sala Personale), 1982, 1986, 1988, 1993, and one last time in 1995. He exhibited solo shows worldwide, including at the documenta in Kassel and the São Paulo Biennale. Among the museums, he exhibited at the MoMA in New York, the Pavilion of Contemporary Art in Milan, the Staatsgalerie Moderner Kunst in Munich, the Musée de l’Athenéein Geneva, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and many others.

The gallery is located in the SPOTLIGHT section at booth S10.
