Szaweł Płóciennik

Paweł Szaweł Płóciennik (born 1987) graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (Diploma in Painting in Professor Jarosław Modzelewski’s Study, he completed a secondary degree course in Dr. Jan Mioduszewski’s Study, 2019). Płóciennik is author of graphic novels, painter and performer. His paintings speak of interiority, of that someone who resides in our depths and who often does not appear to us in such a way as to be noticed, the role that the artist sets himself is to represent him. Human figures appear in his paintings. Deformation helps to give the characters an individuality, to define their identity. “ My man is a mystery. Behind him there are small matters and great feelings that we can feel together as an artist and a spectator “ . The titles he give to the paintings refer to Slavic mythology, the numbers and mathematical actions appearing in the titles are a game of rendering with the help of the image composition code. Touch – perhaps the fullest expression of the fascination contained in his paintings. Many other things are revealed around touch, such as: intimacy, care, pain, the reality of existence, love. “  Perhaps touch is something that holds us most firmly in reality. Perhaps reality is what I’m most afraid of to lose “.
