About the show

The SECCI Gallery, at its Pietrasanta location (Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, 10) is pleased to present “THAT’S LIFE” a group exhibition showcasing the works of Evelina Hägglund, Yves Scherer, Marius Steiger curated by Chiara Guidi.

Inauguration on Saturday, August 24 at 7:00 pm, can be visited until 6 October.

THAT’S LIFE is a choral trilogy that conforms as an exhibition with a unique corpus, precisely because of the planning quality that the three artists have extended by working in close dialogue.
The manifest Duchampian matrix of the title is like an echo of Frank Sinitra’s song of the same name, making it sound like Guillaume Apollinaire’s Calligrammes, while maintaining the timbre of a Dadaist tarara (noise). THAT’S LIFE is therefore the title-manifesto of a collaboration between the three artists; it is the exchange of ideas, aesthetics, research, visions; it is like a stamp, like a “tag”, which imposes itself as an authentic exhibition reason.
The foam of every sense in THAT’S LIFE emerges from the individual works of the three artists. From the graphite with charcoal, pencils and rust on linen in the paintings and the metal bars and wire in Eveline Hägglund’s sculptures, works that trace fragments of identity and places she has experienced.
THAT’S LIFE emerges in the statuesque evocations of lunar rose quartz and luminous white quartz by Yves Scherer, where daylight and the sophisticated night moon configure slender but draped female figures like a two-point-zero primitivism.
THAT’S LIFE is delineated in Marius Steiger’s peculiar trompe-l’oeil paintings, whose precise but deceptive forms show his critical attitude towards technology, cloning and graphic conversions.
In THAT’S LIFE, the conformist researchers of Evelina Hägglund, Yves Scherer and Marius Steiger, do not confront each other, but exchange portions of exhibition space and existential movements, in an activism that is proper to their actions.
