About the show

Secci Gallery is pleased to announce the retrospective of Concetto Pozzati in Milan, which will inaugurate at the Via Olmetto 1 venue on February 21, 2024. The exhibition, titled “Concetto Pozzati Sixty,” is curated by the Concetto Pozzati Archive and will be open for visitation until April 12, 2024.

This marks the first collaboration project with the Concetto Pozzati Archive within the gallery’s spaces. On this occasion, the gallery is honored to renew its joint commitment with the archive, focused on revitalizing the presence of the artist within the Italian and international art scene. The renewed participation in fairs and institutional events, both public and private, featuring Concetto Pozzati’s works aims to continue the legacy of the master.

The gallery exhibition will focus on a body of work from the painter’s output in the Sixties, a period of fundamental importance for Concetto Pozzati. In 1964, he participated in both the Venice Biennale and documenta in Kassel, with works that established him as one of the leading figures of Italian Pop Art. The exhibition will also feature some of the artist’s mirror works, which have appeared in his pieces since 1967: mirror-shaped pears, tomatoes, and human footprints playfully interact with the surrounding space, ironically emphasizing the duality of painting, blending fiction and nature, manual skill and mental intervention, public language, and private language.

– Concetto Pozzati.
